Phuket Nature
Sirinat National Park
Located near Phuket International Airport, the national park covers an area of 90 square kilometers. The park stretches all the way to the island's northern tip. There are a number of interesting places to visit : Nai Yang Beach ,Nai Ton Beach ,Mai Khao Beach ,Sai Kaew Beach and Mangrove Forest .The main entrance to the park is at Nai Yang Beach, where a 20-Baht entry fee is charged to foreigners. The park offers basic, government-run bungalows and tents for rent, or you can select the hotels at Nai Yang Beach
At the northern end of the park, situated near Tah Chatchai, is a mangrove forest with saltwater swamps supporting unique eco-systems. A nature trail and 800m wooden walkway have been built, along with signs indicating and explaining the various species of plants and animals. Entrance at the northern tip of the island, near the bridge to Phang- Nga.

Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Conservation Development and Extension Center
22.28 square kilometers of virgin forest in the northern part of Phuket Island are covered by this park which also actively conserves a number of wild animal ; they would otherwise be extinct in fast-growing Phuket. It is a center for study of the environment. Forest vegetation is spectacular : One species of palm, the Governor's Palm or White Back Palm (palm lang khao in Thai) is especially rare. Langurs, barking deer, mouse deer, deer, bear, wild boar, monkeys, gibbons, and many species of birds inhabit the forest. Khao Phra Taeo serves also as one of Phuket's most important water sources.
There are two waterfalls of note :

- Ton Sai : a small falls over which pours a great volume of water during the rainy
season. The trees ,watercourses and pools nearby provide one of Phuket’s loveliest
scenes. The park headquarter and a small restaurant with an excellent view are also
at Ton Sai. Located near Thalang town ,22 kms. from Phuket town.
- Bang Pae : Best known now as the site of the Gibbon Rehabitation Project to return
domesticated gibbons to the forest, Bang Pae is a small waterfall with a shady forest
and thick foliage surrounding.

Guides are available at the park, and for 8 kilometres definitely advisable! Much of the forest's wildlife tends to stay out of sight, but stay still for a while and your guide will point out the telltale sounds of all sorts of animals. If you're lucky, you may even see some of the forest's unusual creatures. A small museum and information centre is located near the bottom of the waterfall.
