Ao Sein Beach
Often overlooked due to its proximity to Naiharn, and because the
connecting road runs through and under the Le
Meridien Phuket Yacht Club, Ao Sein has a wan air of long lost
glamour to it. Those who visited Phuket two decades ago recall that
it was once one of the most popular and populace of Phuket island's
southern beaches, and the bungalow operations still in situattest
to its headier days. Today, a treacherous road - suitable only for
experienced motorbike riders and four-wheel drive trucks - runs
down to the small beach of sand and boulders and its cheif appeal
is the epic view it offers of Naiharn and Promthep Cape
Rawai Beach

Yanui Beach
Tucked between Promthep Cape and Rawai, Ya Nui Beach is small and
is one of the best-kept secrets on Phuket island but perfectly formed.

but walk past them a few feet and you are rewarded with a beautiful
sheltered bay framed with large rock formations and a coral reef.
Steep headlands at either end hem in this slice of sand which is
visited by gentle waves from December to March. However, the onset
of the monsoon season brings with it crashing surf and swimming
during these months is not advised. A few small, inexpensive bungalow
operations have established themselves in the wooded area to the
rear of the beach.
Chalong Bay
(11 km from Phuket town)
Located on the south coast of the island, Chalong is Phuket’s
principal boat anchorage and the islands largest bay. Chalong Bay
has a long, flat shallow, muddy bottom. At ebbtide, water resredes

bungalows but the beach is muddy at low tide, when you can almost
walk halfway to Lohn Island

for Americans on the island, and holds regular Sunday jam sessions
for any rockers, jazzers or bluesmen who happen to be passing.
Freedom Beach
A ten minute ride by longtail boat out and around the headland at
the extreme southern tip of Patong Beach brings you to one of the
most beautiful and isolated beaches on Phuket.Accessible only from
the sea, this isolated beach with its dazzling white sand will make
you forget about the hustle and bustle of Patong.
This is a private beach that is open the public, there is a small
restaurant and a few beach chairs. Visitors arriving by longtail
boat are welcome, but others arriving independently may not be allowed
to stay. While you laze around on the beach you can enjoy the beautiful
scenery and magnificent rock formations that guard the entrance
to the bay.
Figure on THB 400 for an hour, or THB 1.000 for the day (Longtail
boats will hold six to eight passengers).
